I have hidden talents that you would never know by looking at me. I wish that I could say I have a black belt in karate or something equally as cool, but no. I can pinch with my toes. I probably have the strongest toes in history. I use them to pick up stuff when I'm cleaning house, too. (This talent takes a certain amount of balance and dexterity--I could probably do karate, don't you think?)
My husband can tie a knot in a cherry stem with his tongue (a skill he learned in college). I hesitate to think what he should have been doing with his time while he was perfecting this technique, but really, the kids are much more impressed that their dad can tie a knot in a cherry stem without touching it with his hands than they would be if he started talking macroeconomics at the dinner table.
I know there are other people out there with amazing and unusual talents. Surely we aren't the only ones. Share your stories in the comment thread by Wednesday, February 25. I'll be choosing one commenter randomly to win a copy of Perfect Target on Thursday. Come on, brag a little. You know you want to.

Hey Steph - too funny! The one thing my mom always brags about me is that I'm the only one out of 4 kids that went around picking up things with my toes! And now I amaze my own kids with it. I don't understand why it's so hard. Especially when we're playing 'Pick up' in the summer pool. I mean, it's a heck of a lot easier than bending over and getting water up my nose, eh.
I can twitch my nose. Not as well as Elizabeth Montgomery in BEWITCHED, but then, I haven't practiced much since the 5th grade.
So are you counting the days 'til PERFECT TARGET launches in stores? :)
I love it, Anita...I hadn't thought about how that skill will come in handy in the pool!
Sierra, nose twitching is an admirable talent. I always thought that if I perfected it, maybe my room would magically get clean like on Bewitched. Never happened.
Yep, counting the days...nineteen!
